The Chiltern Gundog Society held a novice a.v. spaniel trial at Culham Estate, Oxfordshire.
The trial was very different in that it was held on marshland and water meadows 100yds from the River Thames on a beautiful crisp winter’s day.
Headkeeper Andy Read had prepared the ground and it was well stocked with pheasant. The estate guns shot well and there were plenty of birds brought down for the dogs to retrieve.
Judges John Crawford and Lyn Randall gave all the dogs plenty of time to show their prowess but with so many birds in the marshland, many dogs put themselves out.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make this such an exciting trial.
