Fun and birds aplenty at Trewithen

Fun and birds aplenty at Trewithen

The winners, guns and judges after a thoroughly enjoyable and successful day at Trewithen.

Cornish Field Trial Society novice A.V. trial at Trewithen.

SOCIETY PRESIDENT, Michael Galsworthy, kindly asked the Cornish Field Trial Society to hold a novice A.V. trial at Trewithen. Shoot manager, James Humphries, and keeper John Gregory provided a fabulous day with all the Trewithen regulars making everyone very welcome and supplying a lot of fun and laughter throughout the day.

The first drive at Old Pen, Trivelas, produced plenty of birds which the guns dealt with efficiently, having the
birds falling into three different fields and allowing the judges to work freely. The second drive produced some high, very testing birds for the guns, with the birds being driven over a steep sided, fast flowing river and mostly falling into some woods behind the guns.

The final drive was Oakwood, with the guns lined out down a small valley and the birds appearing high and fast over the woods in front and falling into a belt of trees behind. The remaining dogs were taken into the field where the guns had stood and were worked back into the woods. The assembled gallery of guns, beaters, keepers and remaining competitors were able to watch the conclusion of what had been a superb day and many thanks must go to John Gregory and James Humphries, and also to the judges Judy Rainey, Keith
Sandercock and Dave Stephens.

The society has already been invited back to Trewithen and eagerly looks forward to next season.
