CFE and BASC bring countryside closer to city schoolchildren

By Martin Puddifer

Thursday, 27 September 2007

Three thousand city schoolchildren have had the chance to experience the countryside thanks to the Countryside Live event organised by the Countryside Foundation for Education (CFE).

The two-day event, supported and hosted by BASC, was held at Lee Valley Park, Waltham Abbey in Essex, with children learning about a number of issues including airgun safety and the food chain.

Jane Matthews, a training officer at BASC, said: "This event is a wonderful opportunity to introduce city children to aspects of the countryside that they may otherwise never have experienced."
