With luxury as its watchword this hotel is perfect for game shooting and many other sporting pursuits.
The Shooting Gazette Good Hotel Guide 2007
STAPLEFORD PARK'S HISTORY stretches back to the 14th century and it was the family seat of the Earls of Harborough.
It probably reached its pinnacle in the late 1800s when it was owned by the Gretton family and was bought because of the great hunting opportunities in the area around Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.
And there are still great opportunities to enjoy country sports while staying at Stapleford Park today, with the hotel happy to arrange game shooting on a number of estates in the area.
On top of that there are many other sporting opportunities, including; a championship golf course, clay shooting, falconry, fly fishing, off-roading, quad bikes and horse riding. There is also an extraordinary gym in the magnificent Victorian stable block and there are six tennis courts. In fact the 450 acre estate is a giant playground of outdoor activities.
Or, if you are after a more leisurely stay, there is a Clarins spa and the wonderful central hall, library and drawing room are ideal for winding down.
The emphasis throughout the hotel is to deliver luxury in an informal manner and this is certainly achieved. The fantastic bedrooms are all individually designed and furnished. Meanwhile there are two excellent restaurants.
With easy access from London and excellent road, rail and air links, Stapleford Park brings a new meaning to the pleasures and enjoyment of being a house guest at a splendid country estate.
